In Bolsena, along the scenic lakeshore in the heart of Etruscan land, Mara Santoni, a ceramicist with over 30 years of experience, crafts and sells artistic ceramics for tableware and decor in her workshop, Terre di Rasenna. She creates unique plates, trays, cups, glasses, lamps, and basins using techniques such as wheel throwing, slab building, coiling, and pinching. Each piece is distinct and vibrant in color, with blue tones inspired by the lake, often incorporating lake sand into the glaze. Specializing in bucchero, Santoni adapts this ancient ceramic technique into modern forms, frequently combining it with embossed leather using medieval techniques, as well as wood and copper to create bags, belts, and wallets.
